At Sycamore Veterinary Hospital we have up-to-date diagnostic and monitoring equipment including Isoflurane anesthesia, Sevoflurane anesthesia (used in 95% of pediatric surgeries because of its safety & smooth recoveries) respiratory monitors, pulse oximetry, blood pressure monitor, and ECG machine.  All of these monitors are helpful but none as reliable as our licensed veterinary technicians, who are with your pet every step of the way during your pet's hospitalization.

Licensed Veterinary Technicians (nurses) either have a associate or bachelor degree in animal sciences. They are licensed by the Board Of Veterinary Medicine just as Veterinarians are.

Technicians are trained to assist the doctors in every aspect of veterinary medicine.  It is important to state that technicians always work under direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Sycamore is very lucky to have 3 licensed vet techs that can help our clients and their pets with just about anything.

• Collect blood samples
• Place intravenous catheters
• Take and develop radiographs
• Administer and monitor anesthesia

• Assist veterinarians in surgery

Nelcor Pulse Oximetry: Measures amount of oxygen circulating and monitors patients heart rate while under anesthesia.

Tonopen: Measures ocular pressures to help diagnose glaucoma in our patients.

Lab Machine: We are able to perform most of our blood work in hospital with this machine so we can begin treatment on our sick patients in a timely manner.
